Usage Rates
Every action in Volume Reach — a call attempt, a connected minute, an SMS — draws a small amount from your prepaid wallet. Rates vary by plan, with higher-tier plans receiving lower per-unit prices.
Overview
Volume Reach tracks 10 billable metrics. Each is charged independently, and charges are deducted from your wallet in real time as activity occurs. You are never billed for activity that doesn't happen — for example, if a call attempt goes unanswered, you are charged for the dial attempt but not for any connected minutes.

What Each Metric Means
AI Dial Attempt
Charged each time Volume Reach places an outbound call using your AI agent — regardless of whether the call is answered. This covers the cost of initiating the call.
AI Connected Minute
Charged for each minute your AI agent is in a live conversation with a contact. Minutes are rounded up to the nearest whole minute. For example, a 90-second conversation is billed as 2 minutes.
Example: If you make 100 AI calls on the Growth plan and the average connected conversation lasts 3 minutes, that's 300 connected minutes × $0.15 = $45.00 in connected-minute charges, plus 100 dial attempts × $0.012 = $1.20, for a total of $46.20.
AI Connected Minute (premium voice)
An optional premium voice experience with enhanced audio quality, charged at a higher rate than standard AI Connected Minutes. This must be explicitly enabled for your agent — it is not the default.
Example: The same 100 calls at 3 minutes each on the Growth plan using premium voice would be 300 minutes × $0.31 = $93.00, compared to $45.00 for standard voice.
Human Dial Attempt
Available on Growth and Scale. Charged each time a human agent places a call using the Multi-Line Dialer, regardless of whether the call is answered.
Human Connected Minute
Available on Growth and Scale. Charged for each minute a human agent is connected to a live contact. Rounded up to the nearest whole minute.
Inbound Minute
Charged for each minute a contact spends on an inbound call to one of your Volume Reach phone numbers. Rounded up to the nearest whole minute.
SMS Credit (outbound)
Charged for each outbound SMS message sent to a contact. Standard-length messages (up to 160 characters) use 1 credit. Longer messages may use multiple credits depending on total character count.
Inbound SMS
Charged for each SMS message received from a contact on your Volume Reach phone numbers.
AI SMS Reply
Available on Growth and Scale. Charged each time the AI SMS Agent sends an automated reply in a conversation. This is separate from the base outbound SMS credit.
Voicemail Drop
Charged each time Volume Reach leaves a pre-recorded voicemail message for a contact after detecting that the call went to voicemail.
Ringless Voicemail
Available on Scale only. Charged each time Volume Reach delivers a voicemail directly to a contact's voicemail inbox without ringing their phone.
How Rates Interact with Your Plan
Higher-tier plans receive lower per-unit rates across most metrics. Depending on your monthly volume, the savings on usage can offset or exceed the difference in subscription cost between plans.
Example — AI calling volume comparison:
Suppose you run 1,000 AI calls per month with an average connected duration of 2 minutes per answered call, and 40% of calls are answered.

At this volume, Launch remains the most cost-effective option. As volume grows, the lower per-unit rates on Growth and Scale begin to offset the higher subscription cost.
Tips & Best Practices
- Monitor your answer rate. Dial attempts are always charged, so improving list quality and calling at optimal times reduces wasted spend.
- Keep AI conversations concise. Connected minutes are one of the highest-cost metrics. Well-tuned scripts that reach a decision quickly reduce your per-contact cost.
- Use Voicemail Drop instead of Ringless Voicemail when appropriate. Voicemail Drop is available on Launch and Growth, and costs less than Ringless Voicemail.
- Review your AI SMS Reply volume. Each automated reply carries a charge — if your AI SMS Agent is generating a high number of replies per conversation, review your conversation flow for efficiency.
Limits & Availability
See the rate table above for plan availability. Free accounts are not charged for usage — playground test calls and sandbox SMS do not deduct from a wallet.
Troubleshooting
I was charged for a call that wasn't answered. Dial attempt charges apply whenever a call is placed, regardless of whether the contact answers. This is expected behavior. Connected-minute charges only apply when a call is answered.
I don't see AI SMS Reply charges on my Launch plan. AI SMS Reply (and the AI SMS Agent feature) is only available on Growth and Scale plans.
My SMS message used more credits than expected. Messages over 160 characters are split into multiple segments, each consuming one SMS credit. Emojis and special characters can also reduce the effective character limit per segment. Review your message length in your campaign settings.
