Caller ID

Control how your business name and phone number appear on the screens of the people you call.

Overview

When you place an outbound call, the person receiving it sees your phone number — and often a name — on their caller ID screen. Caller ID configuration lets you control what that name says and helps establish your number as a trusted, verified caller.

A well-configured caller ID increases answer rates, reduces the chance of being flagged as spam, and builds credibility with the contacts you are reaching out to.

How It Works

Navigate to Settings > Caller ID to review and configure your caller ID settings.

CNAM (Caller Name Display)

CNAM is the business name that appears alongside your phone number on a recipient's screen. Setting an accurate, recognizable CNAM helps contacts identify who is calling before they pick up.

To set your CNAM display name:

  1. Go to Settings > Caller ID.
  2. Enter the business name you want displayed. Names are typically limited to 15 characters.
  3. Save your changes.

Keep in mind that CNAM delivery depends on the receiving carrier. Not all carriers display CNAM, and propagation across the carrier network can take a few days after you make a change.

STIR/SHAKEN Attestation

STIR/SHAKEN is an industry-wide framework that carriers use to verify whether a caller is authorized to use the phone number they are calling from. When your number is verified, it receives an attestation grade:

  • Full Attestation (A) — The carrier has verified that you are authorized to use this number and that the call originated from your account. This is the best outcome and the most likely to be answered.
  • Partial Attestation (B) — The carrier verified the call originated from your account but could not confirm you are authorized to use that specific number.
  • Gateway Attestation (C) — The carrier only knows the call entered the network at a specific point. This is the weakest level.

Your attestation status is displayed on the Caller ID settings page. Volume Reach works to maximize your attestation level based on how your phone numbers are provisioned.

Voice Trust

Voice Trust represents your number's overall reputation on carrier networks. Numbers with a history of legitimate calling behavior, low complaint rates, and proper STIR/SHAKEN attestation maintain a healthy trust score.

Volume Reach monitors your trust status and will surface any warnings on the Caller ID settings page if your numbers are at risk of being labeled as spam.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Use your actual business name for CNAM. Contacts are more likely to answer a call from a name they recognize. Avoid abbreviations or generic labels.
  • Do not spoof caller ID. Displaying a number you do not own is illegal and will result in account suspension. Always call from phone numbers provisioned to your account.
  • Keep call volume reasonable. Dialing too aggressively from a single number can trigger spam flags on carrier networks. Use multiple numbers and spread your calling volume when running large campaigns.
  • Respond to opt-out requests immediately. Contacts who ask not to be called again should be honored without delay. Continued calling after an opt-out request damages your trust score and creates legal exposure.
  • Review your attestation status before launching a new campaign. If your attestation level has dropped, address it before sending high call volumes.
