A2P Registration
Register your business with mobile carriers to ensure your SMS messages are delivered reliably and not filtered as spam.
Overview
A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code) is a carrier-mandated registration system for businesses that send text messages to US mobile numbers. Every business that sends SMS through a standard 10-digit phone number is required to register.
Without registration, major carriers will filter or block your outbound text messages. Registration is not optional — it is the cost of doing business with SMS in the United States.

How It Works
A2P registration involves two separate steps: registering your brand and registering your campaign. Both must be completed before you can send SMS messages.
Navigate to Settings > A2P to begin.
Step 1: Brand Registration
Brand registration tells the carriers who you are as a business. You will need to provide:
- Your legal business name
- Your business type (LLC, corporation, sole proprietor, etc.)
- Your Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Tax ID
- Your business address and website
- A contact email address
Brand registration fees:
- Low-volume standard: $4.50 one-time fee — suitable for most small businesses sending fewer than 2,000 messages per day.
- Standard: $46.00 one-time fee — required for higher-volume senders.
Brand registration is reviewed by The Campaign Registry (TCR), the industry body that manages 10DLC. Approval typically takes 1–3 business days.
Step 2: Campaign Registration
After your brand is approved, you register the specific type of messages you plan to send. This is called a "use case" or campaign registration. Examples of use cases include appointment reminders, lead follow-up, customer notifications, and general marketing.
You will need to provide:
- A description of the messages you plan to send
- Sample message content (2–3 examples)
- Your opt-in method (how contacts agreed to receive messages)
- Links to your privacy policy and terms of service
Campaign registration fees:
- One-time vetting fee: $15.00
- Monthly recurring fee: $1.50–$10.00 depending on your use case
Campaign registration typically takes 1–5 business days. Some use cases require additional carrier review, which can extend the timeline.
After Registration
Once both your brand and campaign are approved, Volume Reach links your registered phone numbers to your approved campaign. SMS messages sent through those numbers will carry full carrier trust, improving deliverability.
Tips & Best Practices
- Start early. Registration can take up to five business days. Plan your campaign launch around this timeline.
- Be accurate and specific. Vague or incomplete registration information is the most common cause of rejection. Describe your actual use case clearly.
- Have your compliance pages ready first. You will need live, publicly accessible privacy policy and terms of service URLs before submitting campaign registration. See the Compliance Page Setup guide.
- Use honest sample messages. Provide real examples of the messages you plan to send. Sample messages that do not match your actual outreach will cause problems with carrier approval.
- Do not reuse a campaign for a different use case. If you expand into a new type of messaging (for example, adding marketing messages to an account that only sent transactional messages), register a new campaign for the new use case.
- Keep your opt-in records. Carriers require that you can demonstrate how contacts opted in to receive messages from you. Maintain these records in your CRM.
