Volume Reach

AI Assistant Connection

Paste one connection URL into Claude or ChatGPT and run your account by asking: who replied this week, text Dana the address, start the follow-up sequence for everyone who asked for an offer.

Overview

The AI assistant connection lets an assistant you already use read and, if you allow it, act on your Volume Reach account. It works with Claude (web, desktop and phone), ChatGPT on a paid ChatGPT plan, and developer tools such as Cursor or Claude Code through an API key. Under the hood it is an MCP connector, the open standard these assistants use for connecting tools.

Reading your account is always allowed once you connect. Sending texts and editing contacts are separate permissions you turn on when you approve the connection, and every send is prepared first and goes out only after you confirm in the chat.

The connection is included with any paid plan at no extra cost. It is not available on the free trial.

Connect Claude or ChatGPT

Step 1 — Copy your connection URL

Open Settings → AI assistant and copy Your connection URL. It is the same for every assistant: https://api.volumereach.com/mcp.

Step 2 — Add it to the assistant

  • Claude: open Customize → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it Volume Reach, paste the URL, then Connect.
  • ChatGPT (paid plan): open Settings → Developer mode, add an app, paste the URL.

Step 3 — Sign in and choose permissions

Your browser opens a Volume Reach sign-in page. After you sign in you see what the assistant will be able to do. Reading is always granted. Two boxes start unticked:

  • Also allow sending texts — lets the assistant text a contact or start a blast or sequence, each one after you confirm.
  • Also allow editing contacts — lets the assistant update contact details, up to 50 contacts at a time.

Tick what you want and press Allow. You can connect with read-only access first and come back later for more.

Step 4 — Ask in plain English

Try: "Which campaigns ran this week and how did they do?" · "Show me everyone in the Offer Made stage." · "Text Marcus that the walkthrough is Thursday at 2." The assistant shows you what it is about to send and waits for your yes.

Connect Cursor, Claude Code or a custom agent

Developer tools connect with an API key instead of the sign-in screen:

  1. Open Settings → API keys and create a new key.
  2. Choose the scope: AI assistant — Read, AI assistant — Send or AI assistant — Edit contacts.
  3. Point the tool at the connection URL with the key as a bearer token. For Claude Code, for example:
claude mcp add --transport http volume-reach https://api.volumereach.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer vr_live_..."

See API Keys for how keys and scopes work.

What the assistant can do

Ask aboutWhat it can do
PeopleSearch contacts, open a record, list everyone in a pipeline stage
Campaigns and callsCampaign reports, call history and transcripts, urgent callbacks, today's conversations
TextingSend a text from your number — after you confirm
Blasts and sequencesPrepare a text blast or enroll a list in a follow-up sequence; it shows the count and cost, then waits for your yes
Tasks and appointmentsCreate tasks, see what is due, check upcoming appointments
Your CRMPush contacts to your CRM, or update up to 50 contacts at once
AccountA summary of your account, including wallet balance

A few limits to know:

  • Blasts go out in batches of 500, always from one number.
  • The assistant can create up to 200 tasks a day.
  • Group text threads are never visible to the assistant.

Disconnecting

Open Settings → AI assistant and press Disconnect. The assistant loses access immediately. Access also expires on its own: an assistant has to re-authorize after 60 days without use.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Start read-only. Connect without the send or edit boxes, get used to asking questions, then reconnect with more permissions when you want the assistant to act.
  • Confirm before you send. The assistant always shows the message and the recipients first. Read them.
  • Use the API key route for automation. If a script or developer tool needs the connection, give it its own key so you can revoke it on its own.
