Volume Reach/Docs

Compliance

Running compliant outreach campaigns protects your business, your contacts, and your ability to use Volume Reach.

Overview

Compliance is not optional when running outbound calling and SMS campaigns. Federal and state regulations govern when you can contact people, what you must disclose, and how you must handle requests to stop. Failure to follow these rules can result in fines, carrier restrictions, and legal liability.

Volume Reach builds compliance tools directly into the platform to make it easier to operate within the rules — but the responsibility for compliance ultimately rests with you and your business.

Compliance Areas

A2P 10DLC Registration

If you plan to send SMS messages, you must register your business and your messaging use case with the major carriers. This is a federal requirement — without registration, your messages will be filtered or blocked. Registration takes 1–5 business days.

TCPA Overview

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act sets the rules for when and how you may call and text people in the United States. Key requirements include obtaining proper consent, providing easy opt-out mechanisms, and respecting calling hour restrictions.

Compliance Page Setup

Before completing A2P registration, you need a publicly accessible privacy policy and terms of service. This section walks you through what is needed and how to add your URLs to Volume Reach.

Do Not Call (DNC)

Volume Reach automatically processes opt-out requests and maintains a DNC list for your account. Understanding how this works ensures contacts who ask not to be reached are never contacted again.

AI Disclosure

When your AI voice agent makes calls, there are emerging legal and ethical requirements around disclosing that the caller is AI-powered. This section covers best practices and known requirements.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Complete compliance setup before your first campaign. A2P registration and consent documentation take time to finalize. Starting early prevents delays when you are ready to launch.
  • Document your consent. Keep records of how and when contacts provided permission to be contacted. This is your primary defense in a compliance dispute.
  • Honor opt-out requests immediately. Any contact who asks to be removed from your list must be respected without delay — across both calling and SMS channels.
  • Stay current on regulations. TCPA rules and carrier requirements evolve. Subscribe to industry updates or work with a compliance attorney to stay informed.
  • When in doubt, do not contact. If you are unsure whether you have valid consent to reach a particular contact, err on the side of caution.
