Voicemail Drop
Automatically leave a pre-recorded message whenever an AI call reaches voicemail — no manual action required.
Overview
Voicemail Drop ensures that every unanswered AI call still delivers your message. When your AI agent dials a contact and the call reaches voicemail, Volume Reach detects this automatically and plays your chosen pre-recorded message. The contact receives the voicemail just as they would from a human caller.
Voicemail Drop is available on all plans and is billed per successful drop.
How It Works
- Your AI agent dials a contact. The call goes out as part of a campaign.
- Voicemail is detected. Volume Reach's AI listens for signals that indicate the call has connected to a voicemail box rather than a live person.
- The message plays automatically. The pre-recorded template you selected for the campaign is delivered into the voicemail inbox.
- The outcome is logged. The attempt is recorded in your campaign as a voicemail drop, and you are billed one voicemail drop credit.
The entire process is hands-free — your team does not need to do anything for drops to occur.
Configuring Voicemail Drop for a Campaign
To enable Voicemail Drop on a campaign:
- Open the campaign and navigate to its channel settings.
- Under Voicemail, toggle on Voicemail Drop.
- Select the template you want to use from your template library.
- Save your settings. Drops will now occur automatically whenever voicemail is detected during a call.
If no template is selected, the dialer will not leave a voicemail — the call will simply be logged as "no answer."
Billing
Each successful voicemail drop consumes one Voicemail Drop credit from your plan. A drop is only counted when the message is actually delivered — unanswered calls where no voicemail box was reached are not charged. See Usage Rates for pricing details.
Tips & Best Practices
- Select a template before launching your campaign. If no template is assigned when the campaign starts, calls that reach voicemail will not leave a message.
- Keep drop messages focused. The best voicemail drops are brief (15–30 seconds), state who you are, and include one clear next step for the listener.
- Do not use the same template indefinitely. If you are dialing the same list repeatedly, refresh your voicemail message periodically so repeat recipients hear something new.
- Check your drop count in reporting. High voicemail drop rates relative to live connections may indicate you are calling at the wrong time of day for your audience.
- Pair with SMS follow-up. A voicemail drop followed by an SMS shortly after dramatically increases callback rates compared to either channel alone.
