Ringless Voicemail
Deliver pre-recorded messages directly into voicemail inboxes without ringing the recipient's phone.
Overview
Ringless Voicemail (RVM) is a non-intrusive outreach method that places your audio message directly into a contact's voicemail inbox — no ringing, no interruption. The contact sees a missed-message notification and can listen at their convenience.
Ringless Voicemail is available exclusively on the Scale plan and is billed per successful delivery.
How It Works
RVM campaigns work differently from standard calling campaigns. Instead of placing a phone call, Volume Reach delivers your audio message through a carrier-level process that bypasses the ringing phase entirely. From the recipient's perspective, they simply see a new voicemail waiting for them.
Setting Up an RVM Campaign
- Navigate to Campaigns and create a new campaign, or open an existing one.
- Select Ringless Voicemail as the channel type.
- Upload or select a voicemail template from your library.
- Import or select the contact list you want to reach.
- Set your delivery schedule (immediate or timed) and launch.
Volume Reach will process your list and deliver messages. You can monitor delivery progress in real time from the campaign dashboard.
Tracking Delivery
The RVM campaign dashboard shows:
- Total sent — the number of delivery attempts made.
- Delivered — messages confirmed as successfully placed into voicemail inboxes.
- Failed — attempts that could not be completed (e.g., number no longer in service).
- Pending — messages still in queue or processing.
Billing
Each successfully delivered ringless voicemail consumes one Ringless Voicemail credit. Failed deliveries are not charged. See Usage Rates for pricing details.
Plan Requirement
Ringless Voicemail is a Scale plan exclusive feature. If you are on the Launch or Growth plan and want access, you will need to upgrade. Visit your account's billing settings to change your plan.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use RVM for warm or opted-in lists. Ringless Voicemail is most effective — and most compliant — when sent to contacts who have a prior relationship with your business or have consented to receive messages.
- Keep messages concise and personal. Because the contact chooses when to listen, a clear and engaging message within the first 10 seconds increases the chance they hear the full recording.
- Avoid delivery during off-hours. Even though the phone never rings, messages delivered late at night or very early in the morning can feel intrusive. Stick to business hours in the recipient's time zone.
- Follow all applicable regulations. RVM is subject to telemarketing laws that vary by state and country. Always consult your legal counsel and ensure your contact lists are properly scrubbed and consented.
- Pair with other channels for best results. RVM works well as part of a broader sequence — for example, following up an SMS with an RVM, or sending an RVM before a live calling campaign.
