Contracts (E-Signature)
Text the purchase agreement from the number the seller already knows, watch it move from Sent to Opened to Signed, and countersign without leaving Volume Reach.
Overview
Contracts let you get an agreement signed inside the same text conversation you negotiated in. You upload the PDF you already use as a template once. On any contact, you pick the template, the fields that change per deal fill in from the contact record, and the signing link goes out as a text from your own number. The seller signs on their phone; you countersign in the app; the signed PDF lands on the contact.
Contracts are available on every paid plan — there is no separate module to buy. They are not available during the free trial, because a contract texts a third party.
What it costs
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Contract sent for signature | $2.50 per contract |
| The text that carries the signing link | Billed as a normal SMS |
| Resending the same contract | Free |
The $2.50 is charged once, when the contract leaves your account. There are no refunds for a contract the seller declines or lets expire. See Usage Rates for the full rate card.
Before you start
- A number that can text. The signing link is sent as a text from one of your own numbers, so you need at least one number with texting enabled. The Send from picker in the dialog lists the ones you can use.
- A template. Open Settings → Contracts and upload the PDF you want to send. Mark which fields change per deal; everything else is locked before the contract goes out.
How It Works
Step 1 — Open the contact
Go to the contact you are working with and open the Actions menu. Choose Send contract.
Step 2 — Pick a template and review
Choose the template. These fields fill in from the contact record when they exist:
- Seller name
- Property address
- Purchase price
- Buyer name
- Title company
- Closing date
Review and edit anything that needs it. Nothing is sent until you confirm.
Step 3 — Choose the sending number and send
Pick the number in Send from — usually the one the seller has already been texting with — and send. The seller gets a text with a link.
Step 4 — The seller signs
The seller opens the link on their phone, confirms a one-time code sent to that phone, and signs on the screen. The code comes from the signing service, not from your text thread, so it never shows up in your inbox.
Step 5 — Countersign
When the seller signs, you get an email, a push notification on the mobile app and an in-app alert. Open the contract and countersign. The finished agreement is stored as a signed PDF plus an audit-log PDF on the contact.
Tracking status
Every contract shows its state on the contact and in Settings → Contracts:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sent | The link was texted and is waiting to be opened |
| Opened | The seller tapped the link |
| Signed | Everyone has signed; the PDFs are on the contact |
| Declined | The seller declined to sign |
| Expired | The link ran out before it was signed |
| Canceled | You canceled it before it was signed |
Canceled, declined and expired contracts also appear in the contact's Activity tab, so the history stays complete.
Tips & Best Practices
- Send it from the thread the seller knows. A link from an unfamiliar number gets ignored; the one they just negotiated on gets opened.
- Resend instead of re-creating. Nudging the seller again from the same contract is free. Sending a brand-new contract is another $2.50.
- Keep the contact record complete. Address, price and closing date prefill only when they are on the contact, so fill them in before you send.
- Check the number can text. If the Send from list is empty, enable texting on a number first.
